HiAOOS explores AI for underwater acoustics
The second HiAOOS training session took place in December, 2023, at the University of Bergen, Norway. This training was for the consortium only and sought to explore how artificial intelligence could help understand and study underwater acoustics, especially in high latitude, ice-covered sea areas.
The training covered topics such as how to use Kongsberg Discovery’s Blue Insight platform to visualize data, contributing to a digital twin of the Arctic. The training session also explored how to process data for AI analysis and saw some demonstrations of AI in acoustic research, e.g. for detecting marine mammals and in fisheries research.
Lectures included contributions from Kongsberg Discovery, Institute of Marine Research, Norway, and University of Bath, UK.
We will have more training sessions throughout the project that will be open for participation. Stay tuned to our social media (X, LinkedIn, Facebook) and website so you don’t miss out.
