- Launch of HiAOOS website and social media,
- Development of HiAOOS data management plan,
- Development of HiAOOS dissemination, exploitation and communication plan,
- Organisation of two training events, one on applications of the Blue Insight platform for HiAOOS, and one on the role of AI in understanding underwater acoustics,
- Organisation of a workshop on central Arctic research infrastructures (RIs), towards international cooperation and collaboration,
- Co-organisation of a workshop together with UAK programme, on environmental impact assessment in the high Arctic,
- Test of the functionality the ROV and inductive coupling technology on subsurface buoy system in nearshore environment,
- First tests of the newly developed electronics and software for real-time data retrieval from moorings,
- Assessment of existing ocean data (ocean and sea ice, seismology, passive acoustics), development of workflows for integration and development of first routines for inclusion in the Blue Insight platform.
Some upcoming activities for 2024 include (but not limited to):
- Continuation of HiAOOS training programme. The next training will be on the topic of Technologies for Ocean Observing Systems in the Arctic,
- Investigate external data sources for integration with Blue Insight.
- Launch of an environmental impact assessment during the summer field missions to ensure that the acoustic instruments, mooring hardware, and icebreaker
operations have minimal impact on marine life, - Organise a workshop with industry in collaboration with GCE Ocean Technology to facilitate innovation and knowledge transfer between maritime industry and ocean research,
- Deployment of the multipurpose mooring system in the Nansen and Amundsen Basin, and testing of an acoustic drifting ice buoy,
