HiAOOS at Acoustics 2024, Rethymno, Greece

Acoustics 2024 is the latest installment in a series of conferences, held every two years. The conference is organised by the Hellenic Institute of Acoustics, in cooperation with Greek universities. In 2024, the conference was held in Rethymnon, Crete, from 17th-19th October.

The goal of the conference was to highlight the work of contemporary Greek scientists in the field of acoustics, to present the recent research results in this field, and to introduce and promote the cooperation of the scientists involved in acoustics and its applications. Additionally, the conference is targeted to those who are interested in keeping up with the recent advances in all areas of acoustics in Greece and world-wide

This year’s conference saw a contribution from HiAOOS partner, Dr. Emmanuel Skarsoulis (FORTH – The Foundation for Research and Technology), with a presentation entitled “Exploitation of acoustic transmissions in the Arctic Ocean for estimation of medium changes – Looking for meaningful observables” reporting on the definition of narrowband mode filtered travel time observables, associated sensitivity kernels and perturbation behavior.

For more information on the work of Emmanuel Skarsoulis and his team, check out their institutional webpage.
