HiAOOS at Aquatic Noise Conference 2025

The 7th International Conference on the “Effects of Noise on Aquatic Life” will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, from June 29th to July 4th 2025. This international conference promises to be a dynamic forum where scientists, regulators, and representatives from industry and environmental groups from around the world will converge to see formal presentations on the effects of anthropogenic sounds on aquatic life.

This conference will bring together people interested in effects of sound on aquatic life from diverse interests and backgrounds in an environment that is conducive for the sharing of information and ideas. The conference will bring together those interested in the potential effects of anthropogenic sounds on aquatic species that ranged from whales, dolphins, seals, turtles, marine birds, fishes and lesser-known taxa including zooplankton, mollusks, and other invertebrates.

Jonathan Cleverly, University of Bath, will represent HiAOOS at the conference with an oral presentation entitled, “Anthropogenic sounds compared with AIS ship positions along the Fram Strait (2014-2016) and Nansen Basin (2019-2020)”. This research was carried out under the guidance of Philippe Blondel and in collaboration with Hanne Sagen and Espen Storheim from NERSC, and Matt Dziechuch from Scripps
