Stinger tests its new docking technology
Stinger and Naxys have been busy over the past few months working on their new innovations in data collection from Arctic moorings. Over the last few weeks, a successful test of prototype docking at 50m depth was completed.
The test took place at Naxys test center in Bergen utilizing their buoy that can be adjusted vertically in the water column. A docking station was placed on the buoy and the station was located from a distance of 65m (horizontally) using sonar on the ROV system. The ROV then connected to the buoy, successfully providing power through the wireless charger, indicated with blue and white light. This shows that the mechanical design of the docking interface provides a secure connection along with ease of operation for the ROV pilot and will be used for further design.
