HiAOOS at Rostock Ocean Convention 2025
From 4–5 November 2025, over 170 participants from more than eight countries gathered at the Rostock Ocean Convention to explore the latest advances in underwater technology. The event united experts from industry, academia, and government, fostering dialogue and collaboration on next-generation ocean solutions.
Set on the Baltic Sea, Rostock is fast becoming a hub for subsea innovation. At the heart of this transformation is the Ocean Technology Campus Rostock, where cutting-edge infrastructure, science, and industry converge to develop pioneering technologies for marine research and operations.
Kongsberg Discovery and Kongsberg Norcontrol were prominently represented, with colleagues from Norway and Germany attending.
“This well-organized event once again proved to be a valuable gathering for a great mix of international participants from companies, research institutes, and authorities,” – Peer Fietzek, Senior Business Development Manager Ocean Science.
Arne Hestnes, Director of Digital Technology at Kongsberg Discovery, presented two insightful sessions:
Real-World Laboratories – Showcasing the Oslofjord CMI Protection Testbed and demonstrating the role of offshore environments in accelerating innovation.
Ocean Data & AI – Exploring how data analytics and AI are transforming marine monitoring, featuring use cases from the EU Horizon HiAOOS and SBEP ARCFISH projects.
For HiAOOS, events like Rostock are crucial for connecting Arctic ocean observatory work with global developments in subsea technology. By sharing expertise and building networks, our partners ensure that cutting-edge ocean monitoring and data systems continue to advance in both the Arctic and beyond.
Stay tuned to HiAOOS for updates on new collaborations, innovations, and insights from the frontlines of ocean technology.
