The iAOS Portal was developed in the INTAROS project. This portal provides access to selected data sets and services offered by INTAROS partners and by other Arctic data providers and service providers. The INTAROS project addressed the full data value chain from observation or simulation to delivery to users through the iAOS Portal or custom applications. All INTAROS data are stored in open data repositories with long-term funding to ensure data remain available for future use in science, public and private sectors.
Figure 1.1 illustrates the data delivery chains for the major categories of data used in INTAROS:
(1) in situ observations,
(2) remote sensing data and
(3) model simulations.
Each data delivery chain is set up using established practices to process and quality control the data before preparing datasets for publication using standard formats. Datasets are stored in open data repositories enabling the iAOS Portal, iAOS Cloud Platform and applications to integrate data using standard protocols. The iAOS does not include a data repository so the applications and cloud-based services must establish the link directly to the data center holding the required datasets (indicated by dotted arrows in Figure 1.1.
